According to BBC 4’s radio report in July 2007, India spends some $300 million a year for biofuel research with jatropha at the forefront of this effort. It has earmarked 11 million heactares of land for its cultivation and plans to cut down conventional dielsel use over the next six years by blending the fuel with 13 million tons of biodiesel.
